adelphi’s director Alexander Carius attended on Sunday a high level consultation on renewable energy indicators measuring the renewable future. This exchange was hosted by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the Worldwatch Institute.
Participants discussed key barriers and enabling factors to advance renewable energy deployment, criteria for indicator development, and made proposals how IRENA may facilitate a necessary global policy dialogue. Alexander Carius shared the German experience on indicator development to assess progress of the German energy transition and referred to reverse effects of renewables with regard to public acceptance that should be taken seriously.
