Launch of the G20 Inclusive Business Workshop series
News publ. 19. Oct 2012
At the first G20 Inclusive Business Workshop organised by adelphi, business leaders, investors and experts exchanged innovative ideas on how to overcome the challenges for scaling-up and replicating commercially viable inclusive business models.
This high-profile workshop convened around 100 participants and featured the winners of the G20 Challenge: 15 outstanding businesses from Africa, Asia and Latin America that offer innovative, scalable and financially sustainable ways of working with people at the Base of the Pyramid. The objective of the workshop was to foster the spread of inclusive businesses through showcasing successful examples, developing solutions to their growth challenges, and encouraging new business relationships. Facilitating access to finance along the value chain and fostering value chain development and innovation are some of the key challenges lying ahead. Besides, innovative approaches, and further support and collaboration are necessary to handle the lack of qualified labour and infrastructure obstacles, as well as regulatory hurdles.
The outcomes of the discussions will serve as key recommendations for the G20 High-Level Development Working Group on the work of the Private Investment and Job Creation Pillar. Following the first workshop in Berlin, adelphi will also organise three additional regional workshops in Africa, Asia and Latin America on behalf of GIZ and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
