The private sector is taking on a key-role in fighting climate change. At the International Business Forum (IBF), designed and moderated by adelphi, entrepreneurs, investors and experts discussed innovative strategies for getting to grips with the challenges faced by businesses.
Some 250 participants attended the high-profile conference in Pretoria, South Africa. The event provided a platform for presenting successful climate-neutral business models and promoting dialogue between representatives from industry, politics, development cooperation and the financial sector. Joint solutions for company-specific challenges such as access to financing options and skill shortages were also discussed and developed.
adelphi planned and organised the International Business Forum for the third year, produced the background paper and moderated a variety of workshops. The specially developed Netfloor was used for the first time in order to facilitate networking among the participants and provide contacts to business partners such as investors.
The IBF is one of three parts in the dialogue series “Investment Climate for Climate Investment – fostering business dynamics for inclusive low-carbon growth", which is being organised by the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
