Inclusive businesses are becoming increasingly visible in Asia. At the first regional G20 Inclusive Business Workshop in Asia, organised by adelphi, business leaders, investors and experts exchanged best-practices and innovative ideas on how to foster innovation for the scale-up and replication of inclusive business models.
The G20 Inclusive Business Workshop took place as part of the Sankalp Unconvention Summit 2013 in Mumbai, India. It brought together the award-winning businesses of the G20 Challenge on Inclusive Business Innovation with more than 50 participants to explore enabling factors and successful business approaches accelerating inclusive innovation. Participants discussed the importance of diversifying financing options through the innovation cycle. Besides, they recommended to foster adapted management practices, as for example open innovation, to allow inclusive businesses to continuously innovate and scale their impact. Fostering the innovation ecosystem through further public-private collaboration was also highlighted during the discussions.
The outcomes of the workshop will be fed into the G20 Development Working Group and serve as a basis for future policy recommendations on fostering inclusive business models. adelphi is designing and organising the whole G20 Inclusive Business Workshop series on behalf of GIZ and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Two other workshops will take place in Latin America and Africa in 2013.
The documentation of the workshop will soon be available on www.g20challenge.com.
