The ninth course of the International Carbon Action Partnership (ICAP) on emissions trading in emerging and developing countries will take place from 18 - 27 September in Istanbul. The aim is to address the main topics for the development and implementation of emissions trading schemes (ETS) on the basis of case studies. The purpose is to build capacities in countries that are planning or considering the introduction of an ETS and support the new generation of EHS globally.
The course in Istanbul is aimed at 27 selected government officials and other stakeholders from nine countries from the EU neighbouring states, Asia, Central Asia, and the MENA region. Stakeholders from ICAP Member States as well as international experts will share their experiences with the participants. In addition, the course offers many opportunities to promote the dialogue between speakers and participants, as well as among the participants as such.
The course is funded by the European Commission, organised by the Ecologic Institute and DEVELOPMENT Solutions and coordinated by the ICAP Secretariat.
ICAP is a multilateral forum where all questions concerning the design, compatibility and potential linkage of national or regional ETS are discussed openly and experience and knowledge is exchanged continuously. Since 2008, Germany is providing the project manager of ICAP and the ICAP Secretariat. Within the context of a project sponsorship, adelphi is providing the Secretariat with scientific and technical support.
More information about ICAP is available on the ICAP website. Please visit the interactive ICAP map to get an overview of the global state of emissions trading.
