Insights into climate, food and energy security issues are on the agenda of training days aimed at students of upper secondary school which adelphi will organise in January 2013, in Berlin. Detailed information on the new project for teachers and students is available online.
The training days in January 2013 will be the first in a series of three similar events scheduled to take place across Germany throughout the following years. They will combine several elements of environmental education: Not only will experts from academia, NGO sector and politics discuss environmental security; in workshops, the students will develop own solutions to environmental challenges. A United Nations simulation will provide hands-on insights into the international climate security debate. The event will be accompanied by the exhibition "Environment, Conflict and Cooperation". adelphi will not only provide the concept but organise and implement the training days as well as develop accompanying training materials.
The aim of the training days is to raise awareness for environmental cooperation and conflict potentials. They are part of a larger project conducted jointly with Germanwatch and aimed at engaging with civil society stakeholders. It is funded by the Federal Environment Agency and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.
