Energy efficient construction in emerging countries is a particularly important factor for sustainable economic growth, as it is residential and commercial buildings that use the most energy. adelphi is therefore training energy efficiency auditors in Algeria and Morocco.
Air conditioning in buildings is consuming more and more energy, and the trend is growing – especially in emerging countries. On behalf of the Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), adelphi is organising a training cycle for energy efficiency auditors in the Maghreb region, in cooperation with international experts. In a total of four training sessions between June 2012 and April 2013, participants in Algeria and Morocco will be instructed in the fundamental principles of building technology, life-cycle calculations and implementing energy audits. In various trips to construction sites, they will be able to apply skills acquired in the areas of measurement technology, energy accounting and data evaluation in a practical context, in order to complete an independent audit.
With this project, adelphi is continuing on from its successful work together with GIZ in a capacity building project for education and training within the environment sector in the Maghreb region. In spring 2012, the consultants organised two training sessions in Tunisia on the use of measuring technology in buildings, as well as a several-day coaching event in Algeria that looked at energy-optimising for a planned building.
