Eight of this year’s 34 SEED Award winners are from Uganda. Hence, the largest national SEED workshop 2013/2014 will take place in Kampala.
The SEED Initiative annually awards outstanding local social and environmental enterprises that are currently in the process of upscaling their operations. With eight winners, active in the agriculture, forestry, biodiversity, health, renewable energy and education sector, Uganda represents the country with the highest number of awarded entrepreneurs.
In the first two weeks of December adelphi will be holding workshops with the winners in Kampala. The task is to assist them in enhancing their business plans and marketing strategies as well as in the acquisition of new partners. In addition, adelphi will provide advice on a revision of their financing plans.
Each enterprise benefits from three days of tailored workshops conducted by adelphi. A two-day individual workshop, where also local partners are invited to participate and a one-day joint workshop with all of the winners from the respective country. Implementation of this nearly two-week training programme is carried out in cooperation with two local service providers. These local organisations are responsible for all follow-up activities after the workshops and will provide continued local support to the SEED winners. In close consultation with adelphi and over a period of three months, these service providers will assist the SEED Award winners in the enhancement of their business model and their business plan - the central goal of the SEED Initiative.
