With the CSR catalogue of indicators developed by adelphi and the Dr. Hardtke business consultancy firm, small and medium-sized businesses will now find it easier to work with the ISO 26000 guidelines for corporate social responsibility.
The concept of the CSR catalogue of indicators was presented to and discussed with 20 sustainability experts from industry, ministries, sustainability networks, and industry and environmental organisations. The catalogue was organised in line with the structure of the guidelines, which are in parts formulated in a general way, and often cannot be easily implemented by smaller and medium-sized businesses. The work therefore conveys the recommendations in key indicators. Individual recommendations can now be compared with established sustainability standards, such as GRI guidelines. Additionally, the catalogue also highlights what elements are already legally in force in Germany, and must therefore currently be implemented by businesses.
The ISO 26000 guidelines were introduced in November 2010, and allow organisations worldwide to systematically identify the social responsibilities that apply to their enterprise. adelphi and the Dr. Hardtke business consultancy firm developed the catalogue of indicators on behalf of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) and the Federal Environment Agency.
