From 6 to 17 November 2017, adelphi’s experts will be in Bonn for the COP23 discussions. Together with BMUB, the European Commission, GIZ, the German Federal Foreign Office, and others adelphi convenes and participates in several side events. Take a look at our agenda of the next 2 weeks!
This year’s UN Climate Change conference is about to kick off in Bonn, Germany. In its wake, natural and political hurricanes have shaken the planet and will affect the climate at COP23. So there promises to be a packed agenda with negotiations ongoing on the implementation of the Paris Agreement’s objectives. COP23 will be crucial to pave the way for the facilitative dialogue due in 2018 to ensure that a further improvement of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) will be improved and overall ambition increased.
This dialogue will commence in the first week of November. Current questions of all fields of global climate policy will then come to the fore: Are countries ready for Article 6? What perspectives for emissions trading in a post-Paris world? Which innovative approaches will become essential for a climate-resilient future? Can multi-level climate governance effectively strengthen local climate action? What options do we have to prevent climate security risks? Opening space for various perspectives and fostering common visions will be our golden thread to adelphi’s activities at COP23.
