On 14 November 2011 this year’s KRIUM conference will take place in Berlin – organized by adelphi and Germanwatch. The conference called "Food Security in the context of Climate Change and Energy Security" focuses on food insecurity as one aspect triggered by climate change which is already threating human security and contributing to political destabilization and violent conflict. The negative implications of climate change on food security can be exacerbated by for instance the unregulated cultivating of biofuel feedstock as a part of an overall energy policy centering on biofuel as a sole source of renewable energy.
The KRIUM 2011 conference is looking at the scientific basis and regional patterns of the food-energy-nexus and will discuss possible solutions taking Climate Security, Energy Security and Food Security into account. The Conference will start at 12.30 am and will take place at the Federal Press Office. A registration prior to the event is required.
