STREAM is a flagship project promoting climate protection in the tourism industry. adelphi will present the project with the UNWTO at the International Tourism Exchange (ITB) and at the Indonesian Embassy.
On 6 March adelphi will join representatives of the Indonesian Ministry for Tourism and Creative Economy (MTCE), as well as its project partners from the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and Indecon to present the STREAM project at the ITB in Berlin. The presentation will focus on developing sustainable tourism with the involvement of local interest groups, using the example of the coastal region of Pangandaran which was severely affected by the tsunami in 2006. The aim is to preserve biodiversity and local culture, promote climate adaptation measures and mitigate the impact of climate change. In February adelphi gave an overview of the project’s main features at the 48th Sarasehan at the Indonesian Embassy in Berlin.
The “Sustainable Tourism through Energy Efficiency with Adaptation and Mitigation Measures in Pangandaran” project (STREAM) is part of the “International Climate Protection Initiative” organised by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety and implemented by a consortium of project planners in cooperation with the Indonesian Ministry for Tourism.
The project aims to build a sustainable infrastructure for climate-friendly tourism in Pangandaran by introducing effective climate protection and adaptation measures. The Indonesian Ministry for Tourism plans to transfer the findings of the project to other regions in the country.
