The impacts of climate change will affect the states and regions of India in very different ways. Tailor-made approaches are thus necessary to prepare for these impacts. Together with several partners adelphi is implementing a new project to support adaptation programmes, disaster prepared
The project is jointly realised by adelphi, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), Local Governments for Sustainability (ICLEI), and the local partners Academy of Gandhian Studies (AGS) and AVVAI Village Welfare Society. The goals of the project are to raise awareness for the need of adaptation measures and to promote knowledge of approaches and technologies for climate change adaptation in selected communities.
Based on this pilot activities will be developed and implemented that address climate change adaptation and protection and promote technology transfer in the region. Training and consulting services – specifically adjusted to local needs – will also be provided, as well as advice on climate change protection and adaptation. The exchange of knowledge and experience on regional, national, and supranational levels between the European Union and India will thus be improved through public awareness and networking activities.
