From 16th to 20th September, the third Climate Adaptation Week (WdKA) will be held, organised by the Climate Adaptation Centre. This event serves as a platform for cities and municipalities to showcase their climate adaptation efforts and gain inspiration from real-world examples.
The Climate Adaptation Week (WdKA) is back for the third time! From 16th to 20th September, this event offers a unique platform to showcase diverse climate adaptation measures. Organised by the Climate Adaptation Centre (ZKA) and supported by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, as well as the German Institute of Urban Affairs (Difu) and adelphi, the WdKA increase awareness about the importance and potential of climate adaptation.
Throughout the week, a variety of events will take place, including webinars, workshops, climate walks, and open days. These activities provide a great chance to learn about best practices and connect with other stakeholders. Dr Beatrice John, Co-Director of the ZKA, notes: "The goal of the WdKA remains as relevant as ever in its third year: to showcase the diversity of climate adaptation in Germany and demonstrate effective practices."
The practical examples are designed to inspire and help overcome obstacles and find solutions. These initiatives are shared by those responsible for planning and implementing climate adaptation in various municipalities or social organisations. The week will conclude on 20th September 2024, from 11:00 to 12:00, with a high-profile panel discussion featuring Sven Plöger, Milena Glimbovski, State Secretary Dr Christiane Rohleder (BMUV), and ZKA Director Andrea Fischer-Hotzel, moderated by Dr Eckart von Hirschhausen.
The WdKA provides a broad platform for anyone engaged in climate adaptation. Whether you're from federal or state authorities, municipalities, social institutions, universities, associations, businesses, or a member of the public, you're invited to share your events on the WdKA website to reach a wider audience.
The Climate Adaptation Week is a key initiative to prepare Germany for the challenges of the climate crisis. With over 100 events nationwide, it offers a valuable opportunity to learn from each other and collaborate towards a resilient future.
