Cities make a major contribution to climate change and suffer from its consequences. Projects such as creating new or improving existing mobility infrastructure should therefore treat climate change as a predominant concern during planning phases.
To facilitate cooperation between financial service providers and cities, adelphi – on behalf of GIZ – will be supporting the C40 Cities Finance Facility (CFF) in holding the CFFactory conference, as well as the planning leading up to it. C40 is an association that is now made up of more than 80 cities worldwide that are committed to steadfast climate protection measures.
The CFFactory Conference will take place from 28 to 30 November 2018, in Berlin. The event focuses on dialogue between experts from the financial sector, transport companies, urban think tanks, foundations, project management agencies and municipal administrators from the C40 CFF project cities. Moreover, it is intended to promote exchange of experience with innovative financing instruments for climate-focused infrastructure.
adelphi in close coordination with the GIZ and the C40 network has been designing the conference programme, with particular focus on the interactive and participative elements. In addition, adelphi assists in identifying the most suitable speakers, participants and moderators and is responsible for their briefing. adelphi will be responsible for the overall coordination and running of the event, the moderation of sessions and documenting the results.
The C40 Cities Finance Facility (CFF) helps the C40 cities across developing countries and emerging economies to identify and finance prospective climate change infrastructural projects. It was launched at COP21 in 2015 as part of the C40 Forum and is supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the US Agency for International Development and the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB).
