adelphi photo contest: we have a winner

What ideas about the future of urban development and cities exist? adelphi invited photographers to engage creatively with this theme. The winner of the photo competition is Jorge López Muñoz from Spain.

The world of tomorrow will be an urban one. Urbanisation is one of the defining trends of our time. The urban population is growing steadily, and its need for natural resources is increasing. By 2050, more than three quarters of the world’s population will live in cities.

Cities are places where society increasingly takes place and social concerns are discussed. adelphi is addressing visions of future urban development, and is working on a global project on urban visions and utopias. In this context adelphi called for entries for its „visions for the urban future“ photo competition.

Photos from all over the world

We received hundreds of entries from all over the world. An international jury consisting of Franziska Schreiber (Urban Development Specialist, adelphi), Henning Lohner (Sound designer, film composer, video artist), Joy Baldo (UN SDSN Local Pathways Fellow, ICLEI), Maarten Hajer (Director Urban Futures Studio, Utrecht University) and Soazic Guézennec (visual artist) have selected the winning photos.

And the winner is Jorge López Muñoz from Spain.
