Environmental management is a core element of our corporate philosophy. We go beyond the basic legal requirements and are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our actions to a minimum.
With the environmental management system (EMS), adelphi helps companies and other organisations improve their environmental performance by saving energy and resources. The EMS defines responsibilities, behaviour, processes and specifications for the implementation of the company’s environmental policy. Our Environmental Officer manages the EMS and ensures that it meets the requirements of EMAS.

In the summer of 2008, adelphi introduced an EMAS-compliant environmental management system at the Berlin locations. The “Eco-Management and Audit Scheme” (EMAS) is an environmental certification from the European Union. EMAS-certified organisations make an impactful contribution to environmental protection, save on costs, and demonstrate social responsibility. Environmental aspects from energy consumption to waste and emissions are implemented in a legally secure and transparent manner.

Our environmental management system was validated again in November of 2021 (certified until 2025). Our employees actively and continuously contribute to improving environmental performance out of conviction. Regular external and internal environmental audits by state-accredited auditors are also part of EMAS.
In our projects, we actively contribute to spreading EMAS as a concept – and that goes beyond national borders. For a number of years, for example, we have been providing the office of the German EMAS Advisory Board (UGA). This body advises the Federal Ministry for the Environment on the strategic development of EMAS and works to increase awareness of the platform in Germany.
As a part of one of our projects, we also managed the EMAS Helpdesk at the European level for many years. The Helpdesk team answered complex questions about EMAS and raised public awareness of the content of EMAS with numerous activities.
