Dr Juergen Bischoff is a Senior Advisor with adelphi. His main focus lies on Climate and Energy, Technology and Innovation, Business and Finance. He was the Director of the Environment Programme ASEM, jointly implemented by the Indian Ministry for Environment and Forests (MoEF) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) until September 2010. With several bilateral projects under its umbrella, the programme focuses on climate change, sustainable development, resources management and environmental protection in urban and industrial areas.
Prior to this appointment at adelphi he was Director of the United Nations Asian and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology (APCTT) from 1994 until 2002. He has held leadership positions with private sector companies in both Europe and South America and has served as an advisor to several companies and governmental institutions. He has also taught at universities in Europe and South America.
With Masters Degrees in Electrical Engineering and Geophysics and a Doctorate in Geophysics from the Technical University, Berlin, Juergen Bischoff has over 30 years of experience in research and development as well as science and technology management in both developed and developing countries. He has also distinguished himself in both the academic and engineering fields, including in the areas of management, monitoring and evaluation of research, university-industry cooperation as well as technology transfer and management. He is well known for his experience in institution and capacity building and development of human resources.
He is the author of over 50 technical papers that have been published in journals and proceedings and has presented more than 100 papers at congresses and conferences in the areas of geophysics, including climate change and environment, and technology management and transfer. He has been awarded patent rights for technology for geophysical prospecting.
