Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV)
All consumer decisions impact on the environment. Consumption by private households causes more than a quarter of all greenhouse gas emissions in Germany. By making the right choices, however, consumers can reduce negative environmental effects in many different ways. To do so, they need reliable, comprehensible and easily accessible environmental information. Only then will they be in a position to correctly assess the environmental impact of their actions.
The aim of this project was to devise and implement a concept of how consumers can make a positive choice in favour of more environmentally friendly behaviour in their everyday lives, based on targeted and reliable information. The project supplemented the diverse information already provided by the Federal Environment Ministry and the Federal Environmental Agency, and additional resources were made available on the internet and in print form, targeting some pilot information to the average consumer.
