In the framework of hosting SEED, adelphi implements a project on behalf of the Flemish Department of Foreign Affairs. The Flemish Department of Foreign Affairs is an agency of the Government of Flanders, the Federated State of Belgium, and a core partner to SEED.
Between 2013 and 2015, nine outstanding social and environmental businesses from South Africa will be granted the SEED Award for sustainable entrepreneurship. The winning enterprises and their partners will receive tailored short-term consulting support based on the "Sustainability Entrepreneurship Toolkit" developed by adelphi. In addition, three former SEED Award winners from South Africa will be provided with a financial contribution and consulting services towards scaling up their businesses, bridging the missing middle.
In the course of the project, the Award winners' progress and impact over time will be assessed and summarised in a study report. Furthermore, selected case studies on past and current SEED Award winners will be developed and disseminated. adelphi is responsible of the overall project coordination, the implementation of the award cycles and the support for the SEED Award winners.
