Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH
Many of the consumer markets of the Asian textile sector are increasing their due diligence legislation. GIZ FABRIC supports and promotes the development of the industry in a sustainable way and encourages suppliers and brands to take a collaborative approach to working together. Within GIZ FABRIC, there are three workstreams that are linked to the adelphi workstream:
The STAR network, an inter-Asian network of producer associations
The Sustainable Terms of Trade Initiative (STTI), which advocates for better purchasing practices
The Asia Garment Hub, a knowledge platform and one-stop-shop for sustainability resources
adelphi's mandate is to bridge the gap between the policy makers and the voices in the supply chain. adelphi will identify relevant gaps in due diligence policies (e.g. GER, UK, F, EU, USA) and find solutions to make supplier organisations, such as the STAR network, heard. Specifically, adelphi will give advice to GIZ FABRIC in four areas:
analyse policy developments and their impacts on the supply chain as well as regularly update suppliers on relevant policy developments
analyse opportunities and challenges of the due diligence legislation and inform the STAR Network and STTI about it
support STAR and STTI in providing feedback to lawmakers on the impact of the due diligence legislation on the supply chain
connect producers with other stakeholders with similar concerns (e.g. achieve closer collaborations with multi-stakeholder initiatives)
