Deutsche Unternehmensinitiative Energieeffizienz e.V. (DENEFF)
Decarbonising the heat supply of energy-intensive industrial processes by 2045 is an important field of action for German energy and climate policy. In view of the long modernisation cycles and the complexity of industrial processes, politicians are called upon to act swiftly, remove regulatory barriers and create favourable framework conditions. Today, process heat is embedded in a complex set of regulations, meaning that different expertises (e.g. heating market and electricity market) and perspectives must be included in order to examine the regulatory framework.
As part of a multi-stakeholder process initiated by Agora and DENEFF, adelphi is responsible for organising several workshops. The aim is to discuss with relevant stakeholders in the sector which regulatory hurdles need to be removed in order to provide process heat in an energy-efficient, low-greenhouse gas and comprehensive manner. The aim is to show which solutions can overcome these hurdles in order to provide process heat as efficiently and environmentally friendly as possible. The results are intended for political decision-makers at national and European level.
