Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH
With the adverse effects of climate change increasingly being felt worldwide, the transformation of the global economy towards low-carbon, circular and sustainable practices has gained new momentum. Trade and the transport of export goods are increasingly considered part of the challenge. In that vein, Green Trade policies can fundamentally impact and reinvigorate export performance. By promoting Green Trade, Jordan can open domestic production to new and larger global markets for environmentally sustainable goods and services, thereby encouraging or even providing the basis for international investments in green industries.
To shed light on the challenges and opportunities of Green Trade for Jordan and propose key recommendations to increase Jordan’s readiness to actively engage in Green Trade activities, Jordan Exports (JE) joined hands with the GIZ Trade for Employment (T4E) project to organise the Green Trade Conference (GTC) on November 22nd and 23rd 2022 under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply (MoITS). adelphi supported the overall design and implementation of the high-level working conference and summarised the main insights in a recommendation paper in order to provide a strategic framework for future project activities.
