The EU funded project “Green Games in Tourism and Hospitality” aimed to innovate and support improvements in vocational training by developing a digital “serious” game for mobile devices. It was the objective to communicate topics such as sustainability, resource and energy efficiency in a playful manner. The target group consisted of trainees and employees from hospitably businesses.
Along with the game, associated guidelines and training for students, vocational teachers and others receiving, providing or participating in vocational training in the tourism and hospitality sector were developed. The material targeted to raise awareness for environmental impacts of facilities of the hospitality sector in the areas of food waste, water waste and energy usage. For the development universities, game development companies and adelphi worked hand in hand to cover all aspects. In the framework of the project, a test phase was foreseen involving hotel and tourism schools in Austria, Germany and Ireland.
