Strengthening the EU's position within the G7 and G20 is of central importance in relation to the European Green Deal, as it aims to solidify the EU's key role in these multilateral forums as an important interlocutor for global environmental issues. This project seeks to support the EU in implementing its priorities - a resource-efficient, circular, and low-carbon economy - and to intensify multilateral cooperation opportunities.
A particular focus is placed on positively influencing the positions of non-EU countries regarding the topics of the EU Green Deal and strengthening political support for EU policy positions in non-EU G20 countries. Additionally, the project aims to promote a deeper understanding of the political changes in the EU that affect global value chains and financing.
adelphi and GIZ provide their expertise to the EU to ensure efficient and flexible collaboration with G7 and G20 countries. By leveraging expertise on several environmental topics, including Circular Economy, Marine Litter, Sustainable Finance, Biodiversity, Green Taxes, Sustainable Products and Value Chains, and networks with relevant international organisations, the project ensures that interventions are planned and executed effectively, influentially conveying the desired messages of the EU in international fora.
