adelphi was mandated by the Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) German-Moroccan Environmental Programme in Rabat to plan and supervise a delegation trip to Germany for high-ranking Moroccan government representatives. Through specifically prepared expert discussions with political decision makers, the delegation members received an overview of German environmental law. The objective of this exchange was to support Morocco´s efforts in modernising the Moroccan environmental law.
adelphi’s support in this project has been embedded into other Moroccan-German environmental cooperation activities. For example, adelphi conducted studies concerning the German Soil Protection Act, the impact of free trade agreements on the Moroccan economy and the linkages between environment, poverty reduction and good governance. Furthermore, adelphi supported the GTZ by reporting on lessons learnt from over 30 years of cooperation in the environmental field with the three Maghreb countries.
