Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV)
As part of the Climate Technology Initiative (CTI), the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) regularly conducts workshops on the topic of climate change mitigation in the building sector. After adelphi had already implemented the CTI Workshops in 2012 and 2013, adelphi also organised the CTI Workshop in 2015. The 15th CTI Workshop took place on 7-8 May 2015 in Berlin. The two-day event expanded the focus of the workshop topics from only the building to the city level. The background for this broadening of the workshop focus is the increasing relevance of urban areas in international climate change mitigation actions. This is result from the fact that almost 70% of global greenhouse gas emissions originate in cities. The majority of emissions come from the construction and buildings sector, transport, waste and waste water treatment.
The workshop contributed to knowledge sharing on climate change mitigation options in urban areas through, among other things, the presentation of best practice case studies. In addition, the workshop offered participants the opportunity to exchange experiences and engage in networking. adelphi's service in this project included the organizational, technical and content-related planning of the workshop, the selection of participants and speakers as well as the implementation of the 15th CTI Workshop.
In addition to the planning and implementation of the 15th CTI Workshop adelphi also develops, publishes and distributes the quarterly CTI Workshop newsletter in 2015. This communication platform is administered by adelphi since mid-2013. It informs experts about new and relevant projects, publications, events in the field of climate change mitigation in the building sector and more recently, at the city level.
