As part of GIZ’s "Urban-industrial Environmental Management" programme in Mexico, adelphi supports the authorities of the urban region Puebla to develop a resilience strategy.
The "Climate Expert" toolbox developed by adelphi and GIZ was adapted to address general urban development issues. A workshop was held with selected participants from urban planning authorities, civil protection and other stakeholders (including civil society) where resilience-strengthening measures for urban Puebla urban region were developed. Puebla is located about 100km southeast of Mexico City and faces various challenges, from pollution of surface water and flooding to the risk of volcanic eruption and socio-economic issues such as economic inequality and crime. The workshop addressed the most pressing challenges and identified possible measures that will now be incorporated into the resilience strategy.
