Parallel to its activities in Central Asia and South Eastern Europe, UNEP, UNDP and OSCE had launched its Environment and Security Initiative (ENVSEC Initiative) in the Southern Caucasus region. adelphi supported the Initiative in the discussion and interactive mapping exercise of security-related environmental risks held among multiple stakeholders during two-day workshop in May 2004 in Yerevan, Tbilisi and Baku. The outcome of this assessment included a report and maps indicating areas where environment and security concerns accumulate, and a work programme to address the main issues and ‘hotspots’.
