SEED Award 2007 to support innovative sustainability initiatives

The initiative "Supporting Entrepreneurs for Environment and Development (SEED)" was launched during the preparations for the Johannesburg Summit on Sustainable Development and underlines the importance of multi-stakeholder partnerships in the search for sustainable solutions to societal problems. The biennial SEED Award recognises innovative and entrepreneurial cooperation between the private sector, public authorities, non-governmental organisations, employee associations, and other initiatives. Instead of a one-off financial expenditure, the award promotes the projects through capacity building, expert know-how, and practical assistance.

The five winners of the SEED Award 2007 were announced at the 15th session of the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD-15). adelphi advised the finalists and winners and supported the secretariat of the SEED initiative and its partner organisations in the carrying-out of the SEED Award 2007 with regard to the selection process, applicant support (including hotline and e-mail service), advertising, and information management, as well as the organisation of the award ceremony.
