Organisation of the SEED Gender Equality Award by UNIDO

In the framework of hosting SEED, adelphi implements a project financed by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). UNIDO is the United Nations agency for the promotion and acceleration of industrial development in developing countries and emerging economies and the promotion of international industrial cooperation.

The overall objective of the project is to hand out the SEED Gender Equality Award 2013 and 2014 to the most promising social and environmental enterprise that is women-led or owned, and prioritises gender equality or women’s empowerment as a core objective. The SEED Gender Equality Award winners, identified through an international competition targeting development countries and emerging economies, will receive professional counselling to strengthen and continuously improve innovative concepts to sustainable development, gender equality and women empowerment. As part of the project activities, the winner's progress and impact over time will be assesed and summarised in a study report.
