The scope of the project "Evaluation and Further Development of Strategic and Conceptual Initiatives for Environment and Security" encompassed sound analysis and advice on relevant international negotiations processes. The following initiatives and programmes were continuously analysed and strategic courses of action were developed for the Federal Environment Ministry in the form of brief study reports and position papers for further discussion: a) The role of the private sector (predominately multi-national companies) in the prevention and mitigation of environmentally induced risks and conflicts, b) the preparation for the 10th OSCE Economic Forum, on "Co-operation for the Sustainable Use and the Protection of Water Quality within the OSCE”.
