The global climate is changing. Temperatures in Germany are expected to rise considerably, accompanied by more frequent and widespread extreme events. The consequences of these climate changes are also relevant for German industrial companies: heat waves and drought affect the availability of coolant for industrial processes and create new challenges for cold chains. Extreme events such as heavy rainfall can jeopardise the operation of plants or break supply chains. Other problematic areas resulting from climate change include international relationships with suppliers in particularly vulnerable countries and the issue of climate tipping points.
Planning in medium-sized companies, however, generally focuses on more short-term and pressing challenges. adelphi is developing a corporate climate check tool to help these companies significantly reduce their efforts to obtain information on climate risks and improve the basis for their decision-making processes, thus also boosting the competitiveness of the medium-sized business sector. The climate check tool provides scientifically based and target-group-oriented information, giving companies greater security and facilitating the implementation of necessary adaptation measures by identifying concrete options.
