With the EMAS Awards 2014 the European Commission acknowledges organisations which are highly innovative in the field of environmental management. adelphi is organising the awards for the third time, which will take place in April in the context of the IndustrialGreenTec fair in Hannover, Germany.
The EMAS Awards 2014 fall under the motto 'Effective eco-innovations supporting improvements in environmental performance'. This year, there are 29 nominated organisations from 14 EU member states who all have reduced their environmental impact in an especially innovative way. The winners will be honoured in six different categories in an evening ceremony held in the city hall of Hannover at the beginning of April. In addition, these year’s nominees will exclusively be presented at a stand at Hannover fair which is jointly hosted by the EU programmes Eco-management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) and Eco-innovation Action Plan (EcoAP), in order to create synergies in the fields of eco-innovation and circular economy.
The EMAS Awards are the most prestigious awards for environmental management in Europe. Since 2005, the DG "Environment" of the European Commission has acknowledged the environmental achievements of EMAS-registered organisations in six categories. The focus topic of the awards changes every year.
adelphi, also hosting the European "EMAS Helpdesk", supports the European Commission with a range of administrative tasks and public relations activities in the context of the awards. In addition, adelphi coordinates the work of the international jury which selects the six winners from the European member state’s nominees.
