Translated title: Guideline for Climate Impact and Vulnerability Analyses – Recommendations of the Interministerial Working Group on Adaptation to Climate Change
Climate change affects many areas of society, the economy and the environment. How these impacts can look and which systems are particularly vulnerable is analysed using climate impact and vulnerability studies. With this guide, the German Government’s Interministerial Working Group on Adaptation to Climate Change (IMA Adaptation) presents methodological recommendations for carrying out climate impact and vulnerability assessments at regional and national level, and refers to further materials and information.
This guideline is intended to ease the workload relating to methodological preparation and conceptualisation for those performing these assessments. The aim is to develop comparable results for sectoral and cross-sectoral climate impact and vulnerability assessments at federal and state level. At the same time, the guide is intended to serve as a point of orientation and its recommendations can be implemented only in the light of practice and available resources. Thus, the extent and depth of climate impact and vulnerability assessments can be adjusted to the given situation.
The primary target groups of the guideline are federal and state authorities. In addition, it is aimed at federal and state funding agencies as well as research and advisory institutions that work on the topics of climate impacts and vulnerability at regional and national level, as well as other interested parties domestically and abroad. The guide is addressed to professionals and requires previous knowledge of climate change and vulnerability.
