Berlin/Belém: Ten years after the adoption of the Paris Agreement, COP30 in Belém (10^th - 21^st November) is in full swing. adelphi is closely involved: over the two weeks of negotiations, experts on site and online are presenting new analyses and engaging with partners on key issues of climate policy and finance.

What's in focus:

In short: targeted progress in international climate policy ten years after the adoption of the Paris Agreement. In particular, how mitigation and adaptation efforts can be anchored in long-term policy frameworks and backed by adequate finance. Adaptation and health finance

Mathilde Wilkens presents the newly published adelphi research briefing “Adaptation and Health Finance”. The briefing examines the specific role that health-related challenges play within adaptation finance and identifies existing gaps. It describes a dynamic field in which a more systematic and integrated approach to adaptation and health has only begun to emerge in recent years.

NDC investment readiness

Dr. Maria Apergi presents the study on NDC Investment Readiness prepared by adelphi consult, at an official UNFCCC side event on Monday, 17 November 2025. The event will be opened by German Environment Minister Carsten Schneider and hosted by adelphi together with UNEP FI, ISO, the German Federal Ministry for the Environment and other partners. The study identifies barriers and options for action to scale up climate investments and mobilise the private sector, drawing on case studies from Rwanda, Chile, Georgia and Jordan.

Carbon pricing and carbon markets

Carbon pricing and carbon markets are at the centre of two side events with the participation of Anna Charlotte Wenzel, Carbon Market Expert at the International Carbon Action Partnership (ICAP). On Saturday, 15 November, the event “Carbon Pricing Developments in the Asia-Pacific Region” – co-hosted, among others, with the International Energy Agency – discusses recent developments and experiences with carbon pricing in the region. On Tuesday, 18 November “Towards a Global Carbon Market: How to Ensure Integrity and Cooperation” focuses on how market instruments can be integrated to help achieve NDC targets while maintaining environmental integrity.

On Monday, 17 November, Julia Groß will speak at the virtual side event “Aligning NDCs and LT-LEDS to accelerate global climate action” about the interfaces between short- and long-term climate strategies.
