For many companies in Serbia, measuring and managing their GHG emissions is not yet a priority. However, greater transparency on carbon emissions, management and sustainability data is increasingly important at least for companies exporting to the European Union. Many companies have to comply to EU environmental legislation or are participating in voluntary global and European initiatives. Customers also are becoming ever more aware of the environmental impacts of products and services and demand information and mitigation actions from companies. The private sector in Serbia needs to respond to these influencing factors and set up a carbon management system accordingly.
adelphi was supporting Serbian consultants to develop skills in measuring a company's corporate carbon footprint, setting science-based targets and developing a climate strategy. The project team provided customised in-person training and supported future consultants during their first assignments to apply and test the acquired knowledge, through the development of new products and services.
