Voluntary approaches in waste management: the case of the German ELV program

This chapter starts out by briefly outlining a theoretical framework for analyzing the German voluntary program on ELV management. The next section describes the general context in which the voluntary agreement and the corresponding ordinance evolved. The subsequent section focuses on the negotiations leading up to the voluntary agreement as well as on its contents. In the final section, the German program on end-of-life vehicles will be evaluated against the theoretical background developed at the beginning of the chapter.
