As in other countries the public sector marks the biggest single consumer of goods and services within the Philippines. This market power will in future be used to increase the market share of green products and services. In the long run, green public procurement should contribute to the implementation of green technologies and production processes within the country.
To pursue this target, the Department for Trade and Industry (DTI) has been selected to reform their procurement processes and pioneer in the adoption of green public procurement. In the course of the Switch Policy Support Component – Philippines adelphi provided an expert to support the transition within the Department. The projects aimed at developing a DTI action plan which serves as operational planning tool to define first product groups, supports the implementation of life cycle costing and outlines further instruments for the institutionalization of successful green public procurement processes.
