The AdaptCap project website offers a new feature: 16 adaptation pilot projects were chosen to present themselves on the platform "Local Adaptation Projects", developed by adelphi. In the future the website will serve as a platform for projects to gather funding.
The adaptation projects presented range from water treatment plants to efficient irrigation systems to coastal dams. Each project profile lines out the specific problems caused by climate change, describes the approach and functioning of the adaptation measure and explains the benefits for the coastal community.
Currently, the website presents pilot measures which have been already implemented under the umbrella of the AdaptCap project, financed by the European Commission. In a next stage, coastal communities will be able to present those projects they have not yet realized. It is also planned to integrate a donation mechanism for visitors of the website to support projects of their choice.
Within the framework of AdaptCap, adelphi jointly with its Indian partners supports vulnerability and needs assessments, capacity building, pilot projects and networking on adaptation to climate change in coastal communities in the Indian Federal States of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
