Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of this century. The "Climate Check", a tool being created by adelphi, will support small and medium-sized enterprises in planning and adopting measures to adapt to climate changes.
Climate research predicts that Germany will see substantial rises in temperature and that weather patterns will become increasingly erratic. The consequences of climate change apply to many German industrial companies: Cooling chains are more difficult to maintain during heat waves or dry spells, while heavy rain poses a threat to production facilities and can interrupt supply chains. Further risks are anticipated in the growing involvement with suppliers in vulnerable developing countries and emerging economies.
Getting prepared for the consequences of climate change represents a considerable challenge for small and medium-sized enterprises. In order to make information regarding climate risks significantly easier to access, to strengthen the bases on which decisions are made and therefore also to increase competitiveness, adelphi is developing a Climate Check tool for businesses on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. The Climate Check provides information based on scientific research and structured according to specific target groups, and will help clear up any uncertainties businesses may have. It also contains practical proposals for action, and details which adaptation measures are necessary, as well as how they can be implemented.
